Meet the Therapist

About Maria de la Cruz

Maria is a New York State Licensed Physical Therapist and Licensed Massage Therapist. She graduated from the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1993. She has worked primarily in outpatient orthopedic settings treating athletes, performing artists, and patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, specializing in manual therapy as well as biomechanical functional exercises. Maria continued her education at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, New York in 1997, where she obtained her Massage Therapy license. Since that time, she has worked simultaneously as a physical therapist in an outpatient orthopedic clinic, and as a massage therapist in her private office.

Her passion for helping people achieve the highest level of mind-body wellness led her to discover the profound benefits of John F Barnes Myofascial Release. Maria has the first-hand experience as an MFR patient for treatment of her chronic pain due to scoliosis. After more that 25 years seeking relief through various healthcare disciplines including chiropractic, conventional physical therapy, massage therapy, and acupuncture, she finally found that John Barnes MFR provides long lasting relief of the pain, eliminating her constant symptoms. In September 2009, she officially transformed her massage practice into a Myofascial Release physical therapy practice.

In order to provide the highest level of care for her patients, Maria is dedicated to continuing her education and enhancing her skills through frequent seminars with John F Barnes, as well as clinical training with several respected JFB Myofascial Release therapists in California and New York City.
